Rempapa Red Hot Sambal Tumis is the quintessential chilli paste found on tables all over Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Slowly fried ('tumis') for hours to intensify its flavour, fragrance, and colour, it is deep and intense from dried red chilli, with a caramel sweetness and tang from tamarind, delivering a lingering, fruity heat and a spicy-sweet balance that is genuinely addictive.
Rempapa takes its name from the Malay word 'rempah', meaning spice paste, and was founded by cookery writer Shu Han Lee to bring the Southeast Asian flavours she grew up loving into home kitchens. Crafted in small batches in London with no added preservatives, the range is all vegan-friendly, gluten free, and soy free.
Wonderfully versatile and ready to use straight from the jar, it is fabulous spooned over eggs or noodles, stirred into stir-fries, used as a marinade, or served with the classic nasi lemak. Traditionally paired with seafood in Malaysia, it works beautifully as a marinade for fish or to add a fiery kick to curries and stews. Deep, intense, and authentically made, it brings serious heat and flavour to any dish.
