Most chocolate truffles rely on a dairy cream ganache, but Booja-Booja Deeply Chocolate Wonders 65g build theirs from organic cocoa mass, cane sugar and coconut oil instead, giving a dairy-free centre that still melts like the real thing. Rolled by hand and coated in dark chocolate with a scattering of chocolate flakes, they look every bit the traditional truffle.
The ganache is made simply, with organic cocoa mass, cocoa butter and vanilla powder loosened with coconut oil rather than cream, then rolled into small spheres before being enrobed in dark chocolate and finished with a flaked coating. The result is a thin, slightly bitter shell that gives way to a soft, creamy chocolate centre carrying warm vanilla notes, with none of the dairy or soya found in most truffle recipes. Anyone avoiding milk or soya will find these a welcome option, since the whole production site keeps both out.
Let them come up to room temperature before eating so the ganache centre softens properly, then serve a few alongside coffee or a glass of dessert wine after a meal. The vanilla extract, made from real vanilla beans and sugar syrup, comes through clearly once the chocolate shell is bitten into, so they work best enjoyed on their own rather than alongside anything too sweet or heavily flavoured.
Booja-Booja focuses on organic, dairy-free chocolate that doesn't trade richness for being free from milk or soya. Deeply Chocolate Wonders reflect that approach exactly: a traditional truffle shape recreated entirely from plant ingredients and organic cocoa, with nothing added to compensate for what's left out.
