Ara Zero is a multi-award-winning alcohol-free Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that shows exactly why New Zealand is so revered for this variety. It opens with classic tropical fruit and grapefruit aromatics, layered with passionfruit, pineapple, green apple, and lemon zest over a subtle grassy edge. The palate is fresh and zesty, striking a delicious balance between fruit sweetness and juicy texture before finishing crisp, clean, and just dry with a lingering note of lime. Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas has described it as varietal, lifted, fruity, and herbaceous, with green herbs adding depth and contrast.
Ara has produced wines in the heart of Marlborough's Wairau Valley since 1999, taking its name from the Maori word for path, reflecting a philosophy of working harmoniously with the cool climate and long growing season that give the region's wines their intensity. Ara Zero begins as a premium full-strength Sauvignon Blanc; advanced spinning cone technology then gently removes the aroma and alcohol at low temperatures, after which the delicate aroma is returned along with a small amount of premium grape juice to round out the blend. The wines are certified vegan-friendly by the UK Vegetarian Society and sustainably accredited through Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. Accolades include Trophies for Best Wine and Best White at the Australian Winepilot Zero Alcohol Wine Show, 95 points and a Gold Medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition, and Gold at both Mundus Vini and the World Alcohol Free Awards.
Serve well chilled, ideally between 8 and 10 degrees. It pairs beautifully with fresh salads, goat's cheese crostini, herbed grain salads, lemon and asparagus pasta, and lighter seafood dishes, and makes an excellent aperitif in its own right.
